Elgar at the piano
How We Can Help

If you are planning a performance of Gerontius in coming months, there are a number of ways in which we can offer help :

- Firstly, if you have not yet settled on a date for your performance, you may wish to consult the listing of forthcoming performances of which we are aware to ensure that you are not entering into competition with another performance of the work;

- Secondly, having fixed on a date, you will wish to publicise your concert, both to attract an audience and to help others planning their own performance to avoid a clash of dates. We can help here by adding details that you send us to the various listings we publish :

    - the Dates for Your Diary listing in the (hard copy) Elgar Society News,
    issued in March, July and November each year to all paid-up members of the Elgar Society.

We will also provide links from the website listings to your own website; or, if your organisation does not have a website of its own, we will provide a separate page on our website devoted to your choir or orchestra and its forthcoming performance of the work, based on material which you provide to us.

And, if you wish, you can include a separate leaflet advertising your concert with a future issue of the Journal, although there is a charge for this.

Thirdly, when you come to prepare your concert programme, you can save effort in reproducing the libretto by taking an electronic copy from the relevant page of this website;

Fourthly, you can raise funds for your organisation and at the same time help the Society in its work to promote Elgar and his music by selling copies of our recently published Gerontius companion, The Best of Me. The recommended retail price for the book is £18.00 but we offer it to choirs, orchestras and like-minded organisations at a substantial discount for you to sell on to members of the choir, orchestra, audience and anyone else at whatever price you choose.

If you wish to take up any of the above offers, or if there are other ways in which you think we may be able to help you, please e-mail us at [email protected].
